Last Friday I took Sawyer downtown attempting to do some Christmas shopping but he doesn't like to be confined in his stroller and was constantly grabbing for items on shelves. Not willing to risk having to pay for something we broke I quickly decided to head back home. Luckily the next day Clifton had off and changed his golfing plans so I could head downtown to get a little shopping done during the day. It was so nice to take some time and peruse all the shops to find the perfect gifts for friends and family on my list.
While that might sound straight out of a Hallmark movie I know that shopping, especially now can be particularly stressful, which is why I'd like to help out with some ideas from one of my favorite stores in downtown Hendersonville, Mast General. They have everything from clothing, outdoor gear, home goods, kids toys, stuff for pets, seasonal and everything in between. You could easily knock off your entire shopping list in one stop. I grabbed a couple items for my own personal shopping and noticed some other great gift ideas that I wanted to share.
It was tradition in my family for my dad to read The Night Before Christmas to us on Christmas Eve and it was one of my favorite Christmas traditions we had growing up. Something about it was so magical and I wanted to pass that on to my children. Last year I looked for our own family book to give Sawyer as it was his first Christmas but all the ones I came across just weren't what I was looking for. They didn't have the right feel if that makes sense. However, this year I found the perfect one, it not only had a vintage feel to it that I loved but it had hard pages like a board book, which is perfect for my 20 month old son and his future siblings!
My sister Crystal is one of the most thoughtful and sweetest humans. This year she has sent me a handful of surprise packages full of stuff for Sawyer as well as cards on holidays. I don't know how she does it but she always makes me feel loved and thought of throughout the year. As I was wandering around I stumbled upon this cute pig and knew I had to get it for her. She loves farm animals and this was the perfect addition to add as a home decor piece or something she could use when hosting.
We use these melamine paper plates every single day and everyone who visits compliments them and asks where they can get their own. You can have fun picking a variety of designs or a matching set. They have large and small plates, bowls, cups and seasonal designs too (in store has more options to choose from).
There is a lot of beautiful jewelry to choose from and while I was looking at it all this necklace really caught my eye. I love gold and simple, something that I can wear everyday (the price isn't bad either). I may have told my husband about it already (hint hint).
They also have a wide selection of children's games, books and toys, including one of my favorite brands, Melissa & Doug. Leather bound notebooks in various sizes with a different design sketched into them plus fun books like Grump Notebooks to write down all your annoyances in and Everything I Need to Know I Learned from Star Wars (my brother would enjoy this). Don't forget to grab some candy from the barrels in the back to add in those stockings for an extra special feel!
Hopefully this has helped spark some ideas for those on your shopping list this season and for a little extra help Macaroni Kid Hendersonville has a $25 gift card for Mast General Store to giveaway to one lucky subscriber!
