I love living in an area with places that offer A LOT of FREE events or have free admission. However, sometimes for whatever reason (eh, em snow) we find ourselves indoors more than we'd like and going a little stir crazy trying to find new and exciting things for the kids to get into - here's a list of 10 fun indoor ideas, some straight out of my own childhood!
1. In home movie theater: Set up a mini movie theater in your living room (Popcorn, snacks and bean bag chairs was how we did it growing up)
2. Scavenger hunt: If you do this right you can actually have them pick up their toys without them realizing it. Just make a list of items you need picked up.
3. In home library: Create comfy spaces, grab a book and snuggle in.
4. Lip Sing Performance: Picture 80's clothes and hair, the song Wild Wild West by the Escape Club and hairbrushes as microphones. True story.)*
*If you have multiple kids, make it a fun competition or they can take turns picking songs
5. Story time: Set up stuffed animals and read books out loud to them
6. Homemade fort: Turn the living room* into a big fort (pillows and sheets)
*or bedroom. My brother and I had bunk beds so we used those to help build a fort as well.
7. Bake and decorate: Cookies, cake, cupcakes - bake 'em together and let the kids have fun decorating them!
8. Arts & Crafts: We had a local fair where you submitted projects so any big snow day we would spend some of it indoors working on our arts & crafts to submit to the fair.
9. Dance Pyramid: Create a pyramid and blast some music - the person at the top of the pyramid starts dancing and everyone else must mimick the dance moves. Rotate through so everyone gets a turn (or as many turns as you want)
10. Get Creative: Have your kids create a new game or activity of their own that everyone joins in and plays. They can create one togther as a group or come up with their own.
Happy Playing!
