Some family favorites of ours during the Fall season include, finding that perfect pumpkin to decorate with the family, picking fresh apples from an orchard, drinking apple cider, deciding on that ideal costume for Halloween, and visiting the corn mazes. These traditions, among others, really make the warm holiday memories for us and our kids. These are things that we grew up doing, and we hope they pass along to their kids one day.
Here's a list of places I've put together where you'll find pumpkin patches, apple orchards, corn mazes, and more! Come visit the goats, pigs, and other farm animals. The pumpkin house will be ready for the Fall season, great opportunity for some family pics. The General Store is as cute as can be! There you'll see socks (made from the goats!) and other apparel. They say they have the largest collection of case knives in Western NC! The General Store currently stocks items from 25+ local vendors, including 10+ from within 60 miles of Rutherfordton, NC! Love it so much you don't want to leave? There's, also, a VRBO on site!

Head over to this picturesque location. In Grandad's pumpkin patch you will find pumpkins in every size and shape. Stop by the bakery and grab some hot cider donuts, apple pies, apple cider slushies and so many other goodies to eat. The market is full of lovely items! Grandad’s offers local honey, canned goods (apple butter, jams, jellies, and chow-chow), handmade crafts, and country merchandise. On the weekends, kids can also enjoy a ride on the cow train, a trip through the corn maze and shooting apples from a cannon.

And, swing by the Bakery for their famous homemade Fried Apple Pies, Apple Cider Donuts, Apple Cider, Cider Slushies, Caramels, Apple Bread and more!

What a great little place bringing fun and community to Horse Shoe! Come for the Pumpkin Patch. While you're there, grab a drink and some good food while you listen to the live music. The pumpkins might bring you here, but the people will keep you coming back!

Cute place to get your pumpkins! They offer pre-painted pumpkins to take some of your work out of decorating. Their displays will make you giggle and reach for your camera phones. Make sure not to miss this one!
Sky Top Orchard:

Once open for season, open 7 days/wk (except Thanksgiving) and will remain open until December. Last entry for u-pick is 5pm. Their hours are 9-5pm until Labor Day Weekend, then 9-6pm until Daylight Savings Time ends. After that, open daily 9-5pm

Sit back and enjoy the view on a scenic hayride. Visit the barnyard area with sheep, goats, chickens, peacocks and more! There's a bamboo forest to explore, picnic areas and, of course, a mountaintop of fragrant apple and fruit trees. In addition to the playhouses, big apple and pumpkin houses, swing sets and sandbox in the Playground, there's a bee train as well! You'll find fun new places for selfies and photo ops throughout the season. While you're there, try the apple cider donuts, kettle corn, and caramel apples.

Don't forget to stop by the country store to grab a donut and apple cider!
